Teddy Bears, Torn Maps, and Broken Monitors: Security in Review

If you are like me, you love a good movie about a hero. Of course, this isn't about comic book superheroes, this is a film about ordinary people who do extraordinary things. A movie that will have you at the edge of your seat in this action thriller starring Antonio Banderas, Ben Kingsly, Liam McIntyre; Directed by Alain Desrochers.

Eddie Deacon (played by Antonio Banderas) a former Marine takes responsibility to protect a little girl (played by Katherine de la Rocha) from a gang who wants to prevent her from going to trial as a witness. Of course, this happens on his first night on the job as a Mall Security Guard.

Out of five stars, I would give this a four and a half stars. Security is the kind of movie where it succeeds on all fronts. Everything was prepared just right. Nothing was done without purpose. There is nearly a reason for everything. From the moment of Eddie's time alone in a hotel, it's dark and shows his turmoil, and then the mall shows the bright contrast to the new world Eddie finds himself in with his new coworkers. Like the writers, directors, and producers--the villain himself (played Ben Kingsly) doesn't do anything without a purpose. It's something that you can't forget at all throughout the film.

Without spoiling it, there are conversations between Eddie and Vance (played by Liam McIntyre) and later Eddie and the little girl Jamie, he must protect, that foreshadow to events later in the film. One of them dealing with a riot barricade and "El Fuego" as Vance calls it which is a three-wheeler.

From the beginning, it doesn't feel like just a bunch of pieces of wood talking at each other. Their skills as actors and their chemistry does this film credit. You can feel Eddie’s exhaustion as he starts in the film, and the viewer watches as he goes from loner to a natural leader and prepared to lead a ragtag group of security guards against a man that would kill them all. Just as Ben Kingsly plays the ruthless master manipulator; he is well spoken and willing to kill everyone, not just the good guys, but his own people. Liam McIntyre plays Vance, the leader of the Security Guards, he and Antonio Banderas develop obvious comradery. Though it takes some time to build up.    In the end, Eddie saves the girl and the bad guy loses.

In this day and age, this is what we people want to see. We want to see our heroes rise to the occasion, we want to see the villains defeated. This is where Security delivers and more.

Castlevania, a Triumph or a Flop?

Castlevania, while many may not know this title, it is an adult cartoon based around the third Castlevania game, though a bit loosely.     Many of the players are the same that you played as or battled in various parts of the game.    It doesn't mean its exactly the same, there are fresh faces to the show such as Isaac and Hector, two human loyalists to the antagonist Dracula. Despite the cut and dry video game, this show is anything but that.    There are shades of gray to all of the villains, most of them, you can empathize with.    For Dracula, his desire to wipe out the human race is simply because they are the reason his wife is dead.   There is Isaac, who wants humans to die because of the trauma he suffered at their hands.    While Hector doesn't want the humans around in large groups because they destroy his creations, to give life from the dead.   There is more to this of course but there are more to these characters, the "villains".     Amongst tha

Is The End Nigh? Good Omens Review

What comes to mind when you hear the words, "Good Omens"?   Happy tidings perhaps?    The tv series written by Neil Gaiman is anything but happy.    It's the end of the world, and the only thing standing between humanity and its destruction is an angel named Aziraphale (played by Michael Sheen) and a demon named Crowley (played by David Tennant). The limited series on Amazon Prime introduces you to a cast of multilayered characters.    But this isn't just the end of the world story, but the story about an enduring friendship with a fussy book loving angel and a demon who is really too good at his job.    Yet between the two, they seem to be the best kind of friends.   They look out for one another, spend lifetimes keeping each other alive. In my opinion, this show deserves a second season.    The characters are dynamic and there are hints of a war of angels and demons versus humanity really intrigues me.    Whether this will happen is unknown. So really, you s
